Come On People Now…
“Come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now…” -Chet Powers
At a time where the world and our President are telling us to quarantine ourselves, I feel the Lord is urging us to go and show the love of Christ to others who desperately need it. Now I am not suggesting that we violate the governmental suggestion of “social distancing” in the sense that we flippantly go out and have parties with a bunch of people and potentially spread this virus more. I believe the threat is real, especially as I just learned this morning that a couple of my friends came down with symptoms of the virus yesterday morning. Now they are not believers and would actually call themselves atheists. I tell you that not to out them or to condemn them, but to say that it was exactly the reason I felt compelled to start this blog. This news brought me to my knees and that is exactly where I think we should be. But the reality that they do not know the Lord is what has really gotten my heart to stir. I need to be reaching out to my friends to “give a reason for the hope that we have” and not “quarantine” my faith in these desperate times. This blog will be a daily devotional to attempt to encourage us as believers to not give in to fear and anxiety (which I believe can more contagious than any virus) but to be grounded in the Lord, and to “spur us on toward love and good deeds” in a time where the real Church needs not only to be heard but to be felt.
