“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” –Jesus Matthew 6:34 MSG
I watched the news for the first time again in a long time, and I confess that my mind wandered into worry about our future. It is easy to do in these times.
As I was reminded of this verse, through a friend, my heart instantly released the fear and anxiety. It was as if it was shocked back to life. I began dwelling on all the good things of God–His love for me, His faithfulness, His restoration of my soul when I was in depression.
What is God doing in your life right now? Where do you see him working?
If you struggle to answer it may be because you are filled too much with yourself to see. Ask the Lord what is blocking you from seeing Him. Spend some time casting out all your fears, anxieties, pride, depression, doubt and whatever else the Lord brings up. Then, ask the Lord to open your eyes to see where He is working in your life. If you are struggling to find any evidence of His presence in your life then ask Him to show you where he is working in your church, your family, your community and your world.
I once had a friend tell me that I should always watch or read up on the news, so that I can be informed citizen. He wasn’t far off in his advice. I just believe that “our citizenship is in heaven”, and our tomorrow is much different than what the local or world news would have us believe.
“And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body”. Can I get an amen?
