“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” Colossians 3:13 NLT
There is so much hatred going on in the world today. People are determined to make others pay for how they have been wronged. Many of their claims are valid, but attacking your offender is not what Christ calls us to. Can you imagine if He did that? There is a good chance none of us would be left alive, and He would be more than justified in His actions.
If we are going to be Christ-like, we must learn to forgive. Unforgiveness will get under your skin and may even cause you to rage out of control. I know this seems like a tough thing to do, and it is! That is why we need supernatural intervention in our lives to forgive those who hurt us. One of the craziest things to me about my walk with Christ is how much I just try to deal with things without Him, and it never ends well when I do. You’d think I’d learn.
We have access to the same forgiveness and strength it took to Jesus to forgive us all through sacrificing His life for us. Think about that!
Spend some time with the Lord and ask Him to reveal where you might have some unforgiveness you’re holding on to. Ask Him to fill you with the strength and courage it will take to forgive. Trust Him to not only take care of you but also to deal with the person or people who wronged you.
